Haydn’s Harmoniemesse (Harmony Mass)

An evening of magnificent classical music is coming to Shropshire as the Marches Choir and Marches Sinfonia join forces for a spectacular autumn concert. The performance will take place at St John’s Church in Bishop's Castle on Saturday, November 28th at 7:30 pm. Under the baton of conductor Alistair Auld, the choir will perform two powerful works by Joseph Haydn, accompanied by the Sinfonia.  The centerpiece of the evening is Haydn’s majestic Harmoniemesse, his final completed mass renowned for its brilliant and inventive use of wind instruments, tonal colour and an excellent example of Haydn's mature style.

The choir will also bring their voices to Haydn’s dramatic and fiery motet, Insanae et vanae curae which will open the concert. 

Complementing these choral masterpieces, the Marches Sinfonia, led by David Gregory, will perform Mozart’s enchanting Concerto for Flute and Harp. This beloved, elegant masterpiece will feature performances by featured soloists Chris Lacey (flute) who is well known locally,  and Emily Harris (harp) from South Wales.

This highly anticipated evening promises to be a highlight of the local cultural calendar, bringing together some of the region's finest musical talents in a beautiful, historic setting.
